The simplest form of HEARD is the ability to create art manually, with templates, or using AI. The app, like Canva, is filled with pre-loaded elements and templates that allow anyone to become an artist. Don’t know where to start? Let our AI Artist help you out. Answer a few questions about how you’re feeling, colors you like, scenes you find cool, and the AI artist will create a template for you to start with.

This is a calming and self-regulating exercise. Users are given an image in black and white with clean lines. They are asked to color it in. This could be prompted by a WYSA-style AI interaction. For example, when users log on, they could be asked how they are feeling and if it is anxious or worried, the app could suggest this exercise. This can be done solo or as a group project.

Users are walked through an exercise about events that have shaped them, past traumas, ways to accept and ways to see a different future. Then they are prompted to create a tattoo that embodies these events. There are pre-loaded elements and a generator that helps with style. All tattoos can be viewed via AR and placed anywhere on the body (like the mask generator). Users can also listen to the stories of others and design a tattoo for them.
MUSIC
AI DJ
This feature turns EmotoPosts or audio clips into songs or hooks. Users can sing, rap, or speak into their device. They answer a few questions/prompts on the style of the song (IE: is this more Lizzo or Post Malone or Taylor Swift?). Then the beat generator offers different backup music to go with the hook or verse lyrics. Users can:
- Speed up or slow down tracks
- Adjust pitch
- Use autotune
- Change genre or style
- Add harmony or backup vocals
MUSIC
playlist generator
Integrated with Spotify, the playlist generator can be used for self-regulation, motivation, and character building. Users can mix and match songs from the HEARD app with songs on Spotify to create their own mood list.
STORYTELLING

This is experienced only with users who are online at the same time. Randomly, the app will send all online users a prompt asking how they feel about something in particular, especially related to current events. The users then place their avatar on a “spectrum” or line saying where they “rate” on those feelings. The users are then prompted to connect to each other using other art modalities like the Exquisite Corpse or to create Masks or Song writing. They can respond via text or video.

Users can create snapchat-style masks that can be superimposed over their own faces. App will contain pre-loaded elements in the library that can be customized by the user. This exercise has an inherently positive effect on mental wellness -it’s based on a classic art therapy technique.Users can explore topics such as:
- Who we are on the inside (what we see)
- Who we are on the outside (what others see)
- Who others want us to be (roles exploration)
- Who we want to be (roles exploration)

How it works:
- Users are invited or prompted to join the group (by other users online or randomly via the app)
- User A creates one element, the base of the art:
- This is done by a randomly generated prompt
- User A “passes” the art to User B, who adds onto it in some way
- This continues until everyone in the group has added on to the picture.
- User A decides when the vision is complete
